This issue of From the Editor aims to educate readers about finding and using trends, using some prominent trend analysis techniques. Although I have based my examples on the Australian vs. US dollar, this type of trend analysis is not restricted to any one particular market, it can be applied equally to share, commodity and foreign exchange markets, for instance.

With so much client interest in markets beyond ordinary shares, I thought it worthwhile to illustrate some ways in which you can make sense of the price movements of any traded security, giving you a foundation on which to construct and implement educated trade ideas, regardless of the market you are looking at.
